General Information

THE HEADS NETWORK is an association of approximately 600 members, school heads and other administrators of independent schools in the US and Canada, representing wide geographical diversity and school size. Organized in 1920 as NAPSG,the National Association of Principals of Schools for Girls, the organization is operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) entity. Originally an association of schools for girls, THE HEADS NETWORK includes both coeducational and single gender schools. The name of the organization was officially changed in 2015 to THE HEADS NETWORK, keeping the original purpose and mission of advancing girls and women’s leadership in independent schools; and embarking on additional initiatives to further its mission in independent schools.

A Council of fifteen elected members directs the NETWORK, which employs an Executive Director, Margaret ‘Sissy’ Wade.
